Connection between city neighborhoods
The new park will have an area of 200,000 square meters. The green strip will be 2.1 kilometers long.
The design reconnects neighborhoods now separated by the tracks. The train tracks remain in place but disappear under raised platforms with plants and walkways. Existing parking spaces above ground make way for an underground parking garage.

New transportation hub
The construction of the central station for the TRAM d’Alacant is an important part of the plan. The regional government is investing 102 million euros in this station.
This point will soon connect streetcars, trains and buses. Work on this transportation hub should be completed in early 2029.
Conservation of historical heritage
The design takes into account the city’s history. The famous Red Bridge will remain as a landmark.
The old fig treesin Plaza de la Estrella and historic railroad buildings will also be preserved. Surrounding the park will be space for new buildings on the city’s west side.
