The 9 regions of the Costa Blanca
The province of Alicante consists of 9 different regions, each with its own character and landscape. You will find an alternation of rugged mountain ranges inland and wide sandy beaches on the coastline.
These districts offer a combination of historic cities, modern industry and protected natural areas. On this page you will read the main features of each comarca to get to know the area better.

Marina Alta
Located in the far north of the Costa Blanca, Marina Alta has Dénia as its capital.
You will find in this district a green landscape with steep cliffs, hidden coves and vast vineyards.
Due to strict building regulations and the absence of high-rise buildings, coastal towns retain their original character.

Marina Baixa
The Marina Baixa region forms the tourist heart of Alicante province with the city of Benidorm as its center.
You’ll find an alternation of tall skyscrapers on the coast and quiet mountain villages in the hinterland.
High mountain ranges protect the area and provide a mild climate year-round.

El Comtat
El Comtat is a mountainous region in the north that is entirely inland.
You will see a landscape of olive groves, cherry trees and the highest mountain peaks in the province of Alicante.
The villages in this area are known for their medieval history and the production of artisanal herbal liquor.

L’Alcoià
The region of L’Alcoià forms the historic industrial center of the interior with the town of Alcoy as its base.
You recognize the area by the deep gorges, spectacular bridges and dense oak forests in the surrounding natural parks.
The local economy here focuses on the production of textiles, paper and toys.

L’Alacantí
L’Alacantí is the most populous region and serves as the logistics hub of the province.
You will find around the capital Alicante a mix of wide sandy beaches, modern university districts and a large cruise port.
The excellent infrastructure with the international airport makes this district a central starting point.

Alt Vinalopó
Located in the northwest, the Alt Vinalopó region serves as a gateway from Spain’ s interior.
You will see in this wide valley many imposing castles, archaeological treasures and vast fields of almond trees.
The area has a continental climate with greater temperature differences than coastal communities.

Vinalopó Mitjà
Vinalopó Mitjà is a dynamic district in the central valley known for its marble mining and shoe industry.
Here you will find a dry and sunny landscape where the famous table grapes grow under protective nets.
The cities in this region offer a functional living environment with many amenities a short distance from the sea.

Baix Vinalopó
The region of Baix Vinalopó is home, with the city of Elche, to the largest palm oasis in all of Europe.
You will find on the coastline of this district natural dune formations and important salt lakes where large flocks of flamingos live.
The economy relies on the combination of large-scale shoe production, fishing and the international airport.

Vega Baja del Segura
The Vega Baja del Segura is the southernmost part of the Costa Blanca and is fed by the river Segura.
You’ll see a flat landscape with huge orchards, pink salt lakes and popular seaside towns like Torrevieja.
The many golf courses and modern housing developments make this a desirable place for international residents.
