The renovated promenade in Albir is now car-free

From road to hiking area
The main change is the construction of a so-called plataforma única. Instead of a road with high curbs, the roadway and sidewalk are now at the same level. This has created a barrier-free space that flows much more naturally into the terraces of the restaurants.
Previously, near the famous anchor statue(Ancla del Albir) it was often cluttered by maneuvering cars, but by now giving pedestrians the right of way, this point has turned into a spacious square where you can stroll undisturbed.

More greenery & shade on the boulevard
During the work, not only paving was considered. Specific attention was paid to the creation of refugios climáticos.
These are places where new plantings and shade zones provide cooling on hot days. This makes the promenade not only a place to walk from A to B, but also a place to really stay.
In addition, safety and atmosphere in the evening hours have been improved by the installation of smart LED lighting, an investment of over another ton, which adapts to the needs of the moment.
Accessibility as a priority
The official plans of the municipality of l’Alfà s del Pi placed a strong emphasis on aging and accessibility. Albir traditionally attracts a more mature crowd and the design was adapted to that.
By removing architectural barriers and adding two new, fully adapted restrooms, the promenade has now become very comfortable even for people with mobility problems or walking with a stroller.
The result of the renovation is an environment that feels calmer and more orderly. Cars have been pushed into the background, creating more space for walkers and cyclists.

Waterfront gastronomy
With the parking lots and through traffic on the first line largely gone, the experience on the terraces has improved. You now sit directly on a wide boardwalk with unobstructed views of the bay. This has increased the appeal of the many restaurants and cafes along the route.
With this, the revamped Paseo de las Estrellas has turned into a modern, sustainable promenade with a friendly atmosphere.
Restaurants on the seafront in Albir
- Ozoa: a hip and modern restaurants;
- Country Ribs Albir: an American restaurant with spare ribs as its specialty;
- PERRONE Mediterranean Bar: a Mediterranean restaurant with diverse menu;
- LaCena by Nola: Is run by a Dutchman (my favorite!).
