Are you in J\u00e1vea this summer and looking for a fun night out? Then from June 27 to August 31 you can<\/b> visit the Summer Craft Market in J\u00e1vea.<\/b><\/p>\n

The market, also known as a summer fair, is held on the promenade<\/b> along Playa de la Grave just below Javea’<\/a> s port and can be visited daily from 7:30 p.m.<\/b> to midnight.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Handmade products<\/h2>\n

What makes this market so special is that everything they sell is handmade. Think pottery, paintings, woodwork, crocheted toys and flowers, gnomes and dolls, papier-m\u00e2ch\u00e9 figures, painted stones and jewelry. At some stalls, this also allows you to <\/span>personalize products or have them customized<\/b><\/span>. It is also possible to place special orders.<\/span> <\/p>\n

Annual market with new stalls every week<\/h2>\n

The concept was first held in 2013. Since then, the market has grown to attract more and more visitors each year. The range of stalls changes weekly. The J\u00e1vea\/X\u00e0bia Feria de Artesania puerto<\/a> Facebook page shares photos each week of the expected stalls later that week. <\/p>\n

Shopkeepers Association & Amata<\/h2>\n

This summer market is organized by Javea’s shopkeepers association in collaboration with Amata, which stands for Asociaci\u00f3n para la Mejora de la <\/span>Artesan\u00eda Tradicional y Actual<\/span><\/i>. Translated in Dutch to: <\/span>Association for the Improvement of<\/span>Traditional and Actual Crafts.<\/span><\/p>\n

In other words: Amata is primarily interested in promoting and improving artisanal work in Spain<\/b>, keeping traditions alive and maintaining quality.<\/p>\n

“Of course the artisans like authentic crafts. It’s their job. But it is not a profession born out of necessity: they chose it because they love working with their hands, mastering their tools, perfecting their techniques and using their creativity to make each subsequent piece more original, decorative and\/or neat. <\/i><\/p>\n

Although their work gives them great satisfaction, it is becoming increasingly difficult to make ends meet producing and selling handicrafts as they compete with cheaper items made in a factory or imported from other countries.”<\/i><\/p>\n
